Confessions of an Economic Hit Man

Confessions of an economic hit man written by John Perkins. This book is about John Perkins' experience as a economic hit man working for the United States National Security Agency. Perkins' job was to visit presidents and prime ministers of third world countries and try to convince them to take a loan from one of the major banks of the world. John Perkins would try to persude the leaders of these countries saying to lift their country out of poverty they would need a huge loan. If the leaders weren't interested John would offer them a handome bribe. If they still refused than the "Jackals" would come in and assinate the leader. These leaders knew that a loan would destroy their country. Once a country takes a loan lets say for 20 billion all that money goes right to American companies to build infrastructure in the third world country. The US company would pocket all the money they could and the rest of it would be used for crappy infrastructure. Since the infrastructure was only funded with a percentage of the loan it would break down only after a few months. So the country would have to take another loan from the bank and the cycle never ends. Eventually the country will never be able to pay back the interest on the loan so the bank would say "since you dont have enough money to pay us back just give us the government owned telephone company used for the whole country". Eventually the bank would take over all of the revenue businesses that the country made money off of and sooner or later the country would go completely bankrupt basically owned by the banks.
