The Golden Compass?

Has anyone heard about that movie coming out calle the Goolden Compass. It's some children movie with Nicole Kidman based on a book called Nothern Lights I think. Supposedly it "rejects the Catholic religion and promotes atheisim to children." It's being protested all over the place and cauing a lot of shit. I'm not sure how it "promotes atheisim" because I know nothing about the plot, but I was wondering if anyone else knows anything.
